It would help if NASA got it right every time...

Russians fly Americans to Space Station

Well, it happened. NASA sent up American astronauts to the Space Station from Russia in a Soyuz Rocket and not because of somebody's idea of togetherness between our countries. Yep... that is the only way we can visit the station.

Why is this country not interested in gaining more information and technology via NASA? Why are we down to less than 1% of America's Budget for Space Exploration when we once spent 6% of our budget. The return we got from that 6% investment was phenomenol. Bailing out the banks and mortgage companies is unlikely to bring similar dividends.

Ike and NASA, Houston

Most NASA workers are taking care of the homeplace this week.  Thanks to Ike.  They will soon be back to work on the space race though and citizens will once again benefit from all of the technology they need and use.  Tell your Congressmen and Senators to invest in the future of our country.  Our economy needs it now more than ever.  After all we haven't had to bail out NASA.  It just keeps on going and going and going and we the American People just keep on getting and getting and getting more and more and more technology.  Best investment our federal government has ever made.

The Russians will Fly American Astronauts to the Space Station

Gee, what have I been telling you? Who is winning the race now? Us or them?
American Taxpayers: let's get on the ball and start supporting NASA.

Something is terribly wrong. I grew up in an America that led the Space race after that first beep, beep, beep from space. So we need to hear more of those beeps? We are hearing it now. It is just softer and rarely spoken about.

The major journalists in this country are missing the boat.
Tell us about it. Explain how this happened. What do we need to do?

We need to put people in office who care about the idea of increasing our knowledge about science and technology and we need to spend the money it will take to put us back on top.

Our country's investment in science and technology

There was a time when the Federal Government's expenditures for NASA ranked as 6 percent of our National Budget. Now that percentage is .6 percent.
Is that dumb or what? I think it is, because NASA is such a tried and proven helper for our economy. In the future, our country's status in the world will come from the knowledge and new technologies we have to sell. What better system do we have in place for encouraging our kids to study for careers in science, technology, creative endeavors and engineering?
I can't name another peace time investment made by our government that has more improved our economy and our standard of living.

Space Advocates Task Force Meeting

I attended the meeting at Franca's Italian Restaurant on NASA Parkway today and presented this blog to the members. Now I am counting on hearing from some of them; so we can fill up this site with all the products we now have available to us because of the previous monies our government spent on NASA plus loads of information and sites to learn more about what NASA has given our nation and it's people.

By the way, NASA is celebrating its fiftieth year in business this month. Let's see if we can get fifty more items on our list before the end of this month. Send me a comment about one of these items or more and tell us what you know about why or how that particular idea or product came to be.

Global Positioning Systems

Yes, that's right. We can thank NASA for those handy GPS systems that get us where we are going without having to manhandle a map. Satelite technology makes it possible.

Lots of people play games with their GPS. Some people plant little gifts in crazy places then give you the coordinates and you use your system to find them and leave your name or exchange a little toy for another one. Thanks for commenting and giving me something to write about and another thing to add to our Thanks to NASA list.
